‘Tate à Tate’ Launch Party 23.3.12

8 Mar 2012 admin

Tate à Tate, the audio tour is ready to launch – on Thursday 22 March it will be available to download for free. On Friday 23 March, Platform, Liberate Tate and Art Not Oil invite you to come and celebrate the audio unveiling of this participatory piece of interventionist sound art.

Tate à Tate is a site-specific sound artwork themed around the issue of BP sponsorship of Tate presented by Platform and Liberate Tate. Tate à Tate is created by Ansuman Biswas (Tate Britain), Isa Suarez, Mae Martin and Mark McGowan (Tate Boat) and Phil England and Jim Welton (Tate Modern).

From Thursday 22 March the three sound files will be available to download to your iPod, mp3 player, phone or computer/cd from www.tateatate.org.  Although the album will not be available for download until this date, more information on the piece will be up on the site shortly.

Tate à Tate is a permanent installation inside Tate galleries that is created by your participation. We invite you to take the tour in full or in part before joining us at the Launch Party on Friday 23 March – where there will also be audio devices available and a live performance to get a flavour of the artworks if you don’t manage to visit the sites beforehand.

For the full experience, start at Tate Britain at 15:30pm with Ansuman Biswas’ Panaudicon then make your way to the Tate Boat 16:25pm departure for Isa Suarez’s This Is Not An Oil Tanker. On arrival at Tate Modern, begin A Temporary Difficulty by Phil England and Jim Welton. Then take the 5-10 minute walk to Calder Bookshop & Theatre to join us for a celebratory glass of wine.

Alternatively, for a shorter sample of Tate à Tate, visit Tate Modern only for A Temporary Difficulty before joining us for drinks. Tate Modern is open until 10:00pm on Friday evenings. For alternative boat times see the Tate boat schedule.

The Launch Party is round the corner form Tate Modern at Calder Bookshop & Theatre, 51 The Cut, SE1 8LF from 6:00pm – 9:00pm on Friday 23 March.
