The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has just published his four year vision for London, A City For All Londoners.

During his election campaign Sadiq pledged to set up London’s very own public energy company to give us clean, affordable energy. Now we need to keep the pressure up to make sure he delivers on his promise.

In A City For All Londoners Sadiq says he will:

explore the establishment of a not-for-profit energy company to supply cleaner energy in the city

This a start but we need a firmer commitment, the Mayor must pledge to deliver a public energy company in the next two years. This would put Londoners in control of their own energy, instead of the Big Six.

Sadiq is asking for feedback on his plan. But we only have until this Sunday to respond. You can leave a comment on the energy discussion page telling Sadiq you want a public energy company that delivers clean, affordable energy set up in the next two years. Just register first and then leave your comment.

Have your say on London’s Energy Future

Not sure what to say?
Here are a few sample comments to inspire you.
Use one of these or better still adapt and create your own:

“A energy company for London could revolutionise energy in London – putting solar panels on all bus stops, supporting community energy and retrofitting hundreds of homes. That’s what I want to see.”

“Londoners need clean, affordable energy that we get a genuine say in. The Mayor should set up a fully licensed, public energy supply company in his first two years in office. That could transform the energy market, breaking the stranglehold of the Big Six.”

“I would love to get my energy from a public supply company that I get to have a say in, maybe by attending local events or taking part in online forums.”

“There are one million Londoners living in fuel poverty – changing light bulbs and turning off appliances is no longer enough. We need the Mayor to give us affordable and clean energy, a London public energy company could do that. That’s why I want Sadiq to proritise setting up a fully public company over the next two years.”

Leave a comment before Sunday and join the growing London movement for clean, affordable, public energy.
