Story-based strategy links movement building with an analysis of narrative power and places storytelling at the center of social change. The Centre for Story-based Strategy (formerly SmartMeme) have developed an approach that is grounded in a narrative analysis of power—a recognition that humans use stories to understand the world and our place in it. Stories are embedded with power— the power to explain and justify the status quo as well as the power to make change imaginable and urgent.

This is an introductory workshop to the practice and ideas of story-based strategy that will be run by Mika Minio-Paluello (who took part in CSS’s Trainings for Trainers) and Kevin Smith (who recently co-facilitated story-based strategy training sessions at Global Power Shift). It will explore a couple of simple tools that can be used by groups to integrate the power of narrative into their campaign work.

Places are limited to 15. If you’d like to take part, please  email [email protected] with a short paragraph explaining which social movements/activism/political change you are involved in.

Note: The workshop is free, but if you say that you are coming but then don’t come, you are depriving other people of taking part in the workshop.
