Climate Action Leeds

Active 2021 — Ongoing

Energy use and inefficient homes are driving up bills and greenhouse gas emissions. Over 15% of households in Leeds were in fuel poverty in 2021, with numbers set to rise as the cost of living crisis intensifies. To tackle this, Platform is the Energy Transition partner within Climate Action Leeds, working alongside housing partners to improve domestic energy efficiency and developing skills for housing retrofit.

Building on community workshops and collaborative working with organisations across the city, we’re now focussing on community energy, working alongside local academics, energy experts and community hubs. Our ambition is to create Leeds Community Energy, an organisation to support communities across Leeds to create their own energy projects – a model that’s already up and running in York, Bradford and Sheffield.
